COVID updates

Oct. 27, 2021 | Bishop’s pastoral letter: Vaccines, masks & caring for others

In light of the number of COVID-19 cases in Minnesota, Bishop David Bard recently issued a pastoral letter to Minnesota United Methodists in which he encourages vaccinations and masking, and points out that the United Methodist tradition does not provide much support for religious exemptions for vaccinations. Read the bishop's full letter HERE.

Preparing Our Building

We're committed to your safety: We strongly recommend that everyone wear a mask over their nose and mouth while inside the church building, regardless of vaccination status. Church leaders will continue to evaluate changes to COVID safety protocols.

Meetings and events: To schedule a group or event, please CLICK HERE.

Building upgrades: We've installed a special air filtration system in our church that helps reduce many air contaminants, including Coronavirus. Touchless lights, faucets, soap and paper towel dispensers have been installed in the bathrooms. Hand sanitizer stations have been placed in main traffic flow areas.

Aug. 12, 2021 | Bishop’s pastoral letter: COVID precautions amid surge in cases

Bishop David Bard has turned the dial on the Minnesota Conference’s Phased Re-Gathering Plan for Churches from blue to yellow. Vaccination rates have slowed considerably and a new variant of the coronavirus, the Delta variant, has been spreading rapidly. Test positivity rates are up—now surpassing 5 percent in Minnesota (with some counties substantially higher). Bishop Bard encourages all who are eligible to receive a vaccine and have not yet done so to do it. Additionally, when your county surpasses a 5 percent positivity rate (check your county’s current rate here), we ask that you follow the yellow phase guidelines of social distancing, indoor masking, and no congregational singing within your local church.  Read pastoral letter

Aug. 2, 2021 | Mask up for indoor worship

Your health and safety are our top priority. As of July 20, 2021, the CDC has issued new recommendations regarding the wearing of masks indoors. The church's county, Ramsey, as well as neighboring counties have all been designated as having "substantial risk" of infection transmission.

We are therefore recommending that everyone wear a mask while indoors at WBLUMC, regardless of age or vaccination status.

We will continue to seek guidance from the CDC as well as from the Minnesota Annual Conference of the UMC. Future updates will be posted on this page.
