Choir Director

WBLUMC has a dynamic music program, offering two unique worship services, one traditional and one band-led, September through May. We seek an individual to provide leadership for the adult choir at our traditional service. The position is 10 hours per week. Under the guidance of the Director of Traditional Music, the Choir Director will plan and select choral music, conduct weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings, and direct the choir (usually 20-25 voices) in Sunday morning worship services. An accompanist is provided. The Choir sings for worship all but one Sunday a month, giving the Choir Director one Sunday off every month. The Choir Director will also manage the Choral Scholar Program of paid section leaders for the adult choir. In addition to weekly participation in Sunday worship, the choir will also prepare and perform special larger music works or programs occasionally throughout the year as determined by the music staff, pastoral staff, and choir director. The job description is posted here.

We hope to find a Choir Director with extensive experience in choral direction, a broad knowledge of choral repertoire, and the creativity to include choral music in the worship experience in distinctive and meaningful ways.
