What do congregants usually wear to church?

We see everything from jeans, to business casual, to suits and dresses. We just want you to come and worship with us.

As a visitor, am I expected to participate in the offering?

If you are visiting White Bear Lake United Methodist Church online or in person, please be our guest as well as Jesus’ guest. Save your offering today, and spend the week noticing all the ways God blesses you.

When do you serve communion and how?

We have begun celebrating communion via Zoom on the last Sunday of each month and on special occasions. All are welcome at God’s table. We encourage using grape juice for communion so those in recovery can participate worry-free.

I’m coming for the first time with my child. What should I tell my child to expect?

Children are always welcome to stay with you during-person worship. Our Sunday School is now offered virtually; please emamil Next Generation Minister Missie Aberle for information at

For information about our non-pandemic kids and families programs, please see the Children's and Youth pages.

How do I join White Bear Lake United Methodist?

New member classes are usually held twice a year, and currently are expected to be online-only. Each new member class lasts approximately 90 minutes. In each class, participants are introduced to our vision and missions; the staff; our theology and worship style; our current offerings; and member expectations. Following the new member class, you will be recognized at the next Sunday service.

How does baptism work at White Bear Lake United Methodist?

We recognize other denominations’ versions of baptism and we baptize all ages—infants, youth, and adults. We encourage you to worship with us prior to requesting baptism to determine if our church is the right faith community for you. Please see our belief statements. The first step toward baptism is scheduling a conversation with a pastor; please contact the for an appointment.

What if I am United Methodist or a member in another church, and I want to transfer?

If you are new to our congregation, you must take the New Membership Class, even if you are a United Methodist, because we want to ensure you understand who we are, how we have been called to ministries, and where we serve our community.
