Summer Social Justice Lecture Series - Showing up for Palestine

Adult Ministry

Joan Deming is a retired United Methodist Pastor whose career included local church ministry in Wisconsin and nonprofit work on behalf of Palestinian Christian organizations in the West Bank and Israel. Since 2009 she has led 16 "Living Stones" Pilgrimages to visit holy sites and hear stories from Palestinian and Israeli Peacemakers. She traveled twice in 2024 and again in May of this year to the West Bank to volunteer as part of a protective international presence on the Tent of Nations Farm southwest of Bethlehem --  a farm owned for more than 100 years by a Palestinian Christian family and surrounded by five illegal Israeli settlements. She will share experiences from the Tent of Nations and recent experiences with friends in Bethlehem and in the Galilee region of northern Israel.
